NATCHEZ — Services for B. Vernette Coleman Frazier, 81, who died Wednesday, April 5, 2017, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Frazier was born May 18, 1935, at her home in Carroll County, the daughter of loving parents, Oscar Taylor Coleman and Mary Rico Coleman.
Over the years, she served the public in various positions, working in the meat department of the Jitney Jungle and Meat Market No. 1. She also clerked in other small community stores in the Natchez area. She loved eating out with her friends, attending church, watching television, playing cards and taking care of her cats.
She was a member of the Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Natchez and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Frazier; her parents; one brother, Oscar Taylor Coleman; and one sister, Henrietta “Sue” Coleman Hannah.
Survivors include her two children, Wanda Frazier Meinschein and husband, Mark, of Mt. Airy, Md., and Linda Frazier Carter and husband, Aubrey, of Baton Rouge; she was a loving grandmother to Russell Frazier and Amanda Meinschein; she adored her great-grandchildren, Bailey and Landon Frazier; one sister, Shirley Mobley and husband, Bill; she was lovingly referred to as “Aunt Dumpling” by her nephews, Bill Hannah and Charles Mobley; and one niece, Debra Mobley; and her surviving great-nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to Gayle Godard Robertson who spent many hours with her over the last few years as a special caregiver. The family also appreciates the services provided to her by Adams County Nursing Home and Compassus Hospice Care of Natchez. Additional thanks to pallbearers Aubrey Carter, Russell Frazier, Bill Hannah, Mark Meinschein, Charles Mobley and Marke Robertson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Frazier’s name to the Baton Rouge Children’s Advocacy Center.
