Franklin County rolls past Forest, advances to second round

Franklin County High School is moving on to the second round of the MHSAA Class 3A playoffs.
The Bulldogs beat Forest 17-11 in Game 2 of the opening round, taking the best-of-three series in just two games. FCHS beat Forest 8-7 in Game 1 Friday night.
Franklin County (18-6) pounded out 15 hits in the win and scored eight runs in the first two innings to jump out to a quick 8-3 lead.
Eight of the nine FCHS starters recorded at least one hit, and all of them had at least one RBI.
DeMartre Collins led the way with four hits and scored three runs. Clay Wright also had three hits with three runs scored and two RBIs, while Jacob Jordan had three RBIs and scored two runs.
Dalivan Hunt, Chase Freeman and Trent Tindle all had two RBIs in the win. Thomas Slagle finished 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Collins, Hunt and Wright all recorded a double.
Dylan Shoemaker led Forest with two hits, two runs and two RBIs.
Collins pitched the first three innings for the Bulldogs, tallying five strikeouts and allowing just two earned runs.
Wyatt Brumfield pitched 3.2 relief innings and Hunt finished the game off by recording the final out.
