Kendria Young has been hired as the new girls basketball coach of Natchez High School.
Natchez-Adams School District officials announced the hire Friday morning.
Young will be the third Lady Bulldogs coach in as many seasons.
She is replacing Tim Richardson, who missed the final six games last year because of undisclosed health reasons.
Natchez finished the 2016-17 campaign with a 9-16 record but flourished at the end of the year winning the Region 6-5A championship and securing a playoff berth.
Richardson replaced former coach Alphaka Moore, who left to accept the head coaching position at her alma mater Laurel High School last May.
In Moore’s four-year run at Natchez, she led the Lady Bulldogs to MAIS Class 5A state championships in the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
