NATCHEZ — Services for Gregory R. Hollowell, 36, of Natchez, who died Friday, May 19, 2017, will be noon Thursday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating. 

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Mr. Hollowell was born June 30, 1980, in Natchez, the son of David Ray Hollowell and Ann Liddell Marlow Hollowell.

Gregory was a 1999 graduate of Cathedral High School. He attended college at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Natchez. He was a U.S. Marine with rank of corporal in the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines 1stMarine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force in support of Iraqi Freedom. He was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for Superior Performance of his duties while serving as Gun 7 Squad Leader and he received the Good Conduct Medal. He was also a loving and devoted son, father and brother. He was a proud marine and leaves behind a number of fellow marine brothers. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Emily Hollowell; maternal grandmother, Inez Pitchford Marlow; paternal grandfather, James Hollowell; and paternal uncles, John and Mark Hollowell.

Survivors include his mother; his father; two children, Wyatt Joseph Hollowell and Ava Grace Hollowell; two brothers, Daniel Hollowell and wife, Caroline, and Eric Hollowell; one niece, Aubrey Hollowell; maternal grandfather, Orvis Marlow Jr.; paternal grandmother, Martha Hollowell; six aunts, Margaret Marlow Stutzman and husband, Eddie, Cathy Marlow, Susan Marlow King and husband, Bruce, Carolyn Marlow Fish and husband, Geoffrey, Melanie Marlow Halbert and Susan Hollowell; one uncle, Donald Hollowell; favorite great-aunt, Judy Pitchford Bartley; and special friends Will Alexander, Ruth Powers, Brad McDonald and Preston Freeman; and a number of cousins.

Pallbearers will be Brad McDonald, Preston Freeman, Will Alexander, Drew Hollowell, Ben Long, Woodrow Alexander, Lee Blanton and Steven Freeman.

Following the burial, a repast will be at 209 St. Charles Ave.
