MDOC official: Escaped inmate still on the run

NATCHEZ — An inmate who escaped last week in Hattiesburg and was spotted in Natchez is still on the run, state corrections officials said Monday.Mississippi Department of Corrections Communications Director Grace Simmons Fisher said Monday that the agency was still searching for Anthony Boyd Lamar, 56, who escaped last Wednesday while on a work detail at Tatum Park in Hattiesburg. He began serving a 16-year sentence in August 2016 for a residential burglary conviction in Copiah County.

Lamar was spotted on Woodville Drive in Natchez Thursday, and local law enforcement authorities searched for him until late Thursday night before turning the search over to MDOC.
