NATCHEZ — Services for Bobbye “Barbara” Jean Gibbs, 63, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, June 21, 2017, in Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. David Green officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday with a celebration of life wake service at 5:30 p.m.
Visitation will continue Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Ms. Gibbs was born June 8, 1954, in Natchez, the daughter of David C. Abston and Carrie Bridgewater Abston.
She was educated in the Natchez-Adams School District and was a homemaker.
Ms. Gibbs was a member of God’s Way Baptist Church where she served on the usher board. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, watching television and gaming.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Wilamae Hemsley; one brother, David C. Abston Jr.; and three nephews, Frederick Dailey, John Henry Dailey and George E. Dailey.
Survivors include one son, Patrick Ransom; one daughter, Mariana Ransom; daughter-in-law, Tracey Ransom; one sister, Linda Cleveland; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Don Scott; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
