NATCHEZ — Vehicle owners looking to support the Natchez-Adams School District soon may have the opportunity with a new Natchez Bulldogs car tag.
The district is seeking to acquire 300 pre-orders necessary before the state will create the vanity plates. The tag is designed with the new athletics logo of the Natchez High School bulldog mascot and the phrase “Go Natchez Bulldogs!” at the bottom.
Natchez’s connection to the Mississippi River inspires the water pattern visible behind the spirit slogan.
Pre-orders for the license plates are now being accepted at the Braden Admisistrative Office for $31, payable by either cash or money order.
Deputy superintendent Zandra McDonald said the tag is an opportunity to show support for the district’s schools.
“It shows pride for our school district,” McDonald said. “It’s no different from other schools that brand logos and so forth. It’s no different from having an Ole Miss tag … it’s an opportunity to show school pride.”
Proceeds from the tag will benefit elementary schools with educational supplies and services.
“It gives (the community) another opportunity to invest in our students,” district spokesman Steven Richardson said.
The $31 to purchase the tag is an added annual cost to a vehicle owner’s current regular tag price.
If the owner already has a specialty tag, this $31 will replace the additional $31 the owner already pays.
For the specialty tag to become available, reservations must be made for 300 tags to be sold by the deadline Oct. 1 before the Mississippi Department of Revenue creates the tags.
Vehicle owners who reserves their tag before the deadline will recieve their tags in January.
The tag is available to all Mississippi residents.
