The Wilkinson County Christian Academy Rams will look to notch their first W into the win column in 2017 when they host the Prairie View Academy Spartans Friday.
“They’re a talented team with good skilled players,” WCCA coach Mac Newcomb said. “They throw the ball well and execute well. We’ve got our work cut out for us.”
WCCA (0-2) dropped a close one to Glenbrook School last week, 24-14. Newcomb said his team was better conditioned than in their opening loss to Centreville Academy, but didn’t execute the fundamentals.
“We have to improve our blocking and tackling and simplify our offense,” he said. “Some of it was effort, but the guys have to understand the importance of every play.”
Prairie View Academy (2-0) took care of Christian Home Educators Fellowship 42-6.
“I think we can match up with them for the most part, but we can’t beat ourselves,” Newcomb said.
Newcomb added that he expects the game to be played unless lightening dictates otherwise.
Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. in Woodville.
