For the second time this season, the LHSAA Class 2A Ferriday High School Trojans defeated a team from Class 5A to remain undefeated. However, this one went down to the wire.

LaGrange High School scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter to make it a 14-13 game, but was unable to score on the ensuing conversion attempt and the Trojans held on to defeat the Gators by that score.

Ferriday, ranked No. 3 in Class 2A, was held to 198 yards of total offense, but its defense and special teams came up with a pair of big plays. Dantrieze Scott picked off a pass and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown, and Dare Rosenthal blocked a field goal attempt.

Jerrius Scott had 19 carries for 76 yards and one touchdown while Byron Milligan had eight carries for 67 yards. Kobe Dillon went 5-for-7 passing for 38 yards with one interception. Justin Burns caught three of those passes for 17 yards.

Lewis Matthews also had a big game defensively for the Trojans with eight tackles, one of them for a loss, one forced fumble and two passes defended.

Ferriday (3-0) plays host to Rayville in its District 2-2A opener at 7 p.m. next Friday.
