Wilkinson County falls to Louisiana power St. Charles Catholic, 20-0

After a surprisingly low-scoring first half, St. Charles Catholic High School (LaPlace, La.) scored two touchdowns in the third quarter for a 20-0 win over the Wilkinson County High School Wildcats Friday night.
St. Charles Catholic (3-0), an LHSAA Class 3A select school ranked No. 8 in the entire state and No. 1 in Division II, struggled at times against MHSAA Class 3A Wilkinson County and led just 7-0 at the half.
The Comets scored 13 points in the third quarter and the defense kept the shutout intact for the remainder of the game.
WCHS’ Freddie Byrd completed 12 of 19 passes for 150 yards with one interception. Terrell Coleman was the team’s leading rusher with 43 yards on 17 carries. Jaquan Tickles led the defense with a team-high 13 tackles.
Wilkinson County (1-3) plays at defending Class 3A state champion Kemper County at 7 p.m. next Friday.
