Franklin County looking for redemption after last week’s double-overtime loss

One week after a heartbreaking double-overtime loss to Lawrence County High School, the still-winless Franklin County High School Bulldogs will have another test this week.
Franklin County (0-5) hosts the Jefferson Davis County Jaguars (4-1) with a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday.
The Bulldogs lost to Lawrence County 19-16, while the Jaguars defeated Natchez High School last week, 48-35.
Bulldogs head coach Trey Woodard said he was pleased the effort his players put forth against the Class 4A Cougars.
“The kids played really hard. Offense finally produced something,” Woodard said.
Last week Jaquan Brown started at quarterback for Franklin County, throwing for 25 yards and with more than 100 rushing yards. His 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter sent last week’s game into overtime.
Woodard said the one thing he would like to see improvement on is for the offense to put more points on the board — as in touchdowns.
“They’re good. They’re really good,” Woodard said. “Athletic — well-coached and a really athletic team.”
