NATCHEZ — Services for Gloria Jean Robinson, 60, of Natchez, who died Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Baptist Church with the Rev. Wilsonni Johnson officiating.  

Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Robinson was born Sept. 1, 1957, in Natchez, the daughter of Charles Taylor Sr. and Lillian Leanna Dottery Taylor.

She was the youngest of five children. At a very early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at St. Peter Baptist Church where she attended with her family. She continued her faith walk and served in the church for a number of years.

She was a 1975 graduate of North Natchez High School and furthered her studies in elementary education at Alcorn State University and began the use of her talents in the classroom as a teacher. She later went on to serve the children of Natchez as the school librarian, creating a number of opportunities to explore the world through the gift of reading. She retired after 31 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Darnell Robinson; one son, Corey Robinson; one daughter, Tonia Robinson, both of Natchez; two sisters, Donna Flemons and Lillian Roots and husband, TC, all of Sacramento, Calif.; two brothers, Charles Taylor and wife, Patricia, of Allen, Texas, and Vince Mack and wife, Clara, of Sacramento; two granddaughters, Diamond and Tyneria of Natchez; two grandsons, Marcus and Corey Jr. of Natchez; two uncles, Douglas Dottery of Riverside, Calif., and Larry Davis of Natchez; father and mother-in-law, Winston and Alice Donaldson of Natchez; three sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, colleagues and students.
