RAYMOND — An Alcorn State University student died Wednesday evening in a single vehicle accident along the Natchez Trace.

Regina Carr, 20, of Clinton, struck a tree near Raymond at milepost 77.9 along the trace.

Authorities were notified of the accident at 6:03 p.m.

Preliminary information indicates Carr was traveling northbound when the vehicle left the roadway, spun around and struck a tree.

Hinds County EMS and fire personnel extracted Carr from the vehicle, and the Hinds County Coroner pronounced her dead at the scene.
