MONTEREY — Services for James C. Rodgers, 83, of Monterey, who died Friday, September 22, 2017 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ferriday, will be at 2 p.m. today at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Burial will follow at the cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until 1:45 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home.

Mr. Rodgers was born June 21, 1934 in Lambert, the son of James Edwards Rodgers and Nona Caples Rodgers.

He served in the U.S. Navy for nine years on the USS Bennington and the USS Independence. He then worked for Natchez Electric for 36 years until his retirement in 1999.

Mr. Rodgers was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Donna S. Rodgers; three children, Melinda Rodgers, James Clayton “Clay” Rodgers and Steven Rodgers and wife, Ann; three step children, Troy Stewart and wife, Susie, Tracy Stewart and wife, Debra, and Trudy Rutland and husband, Greg; eight grandchildren; and a number of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; one sister, Ginger Faye Smith; and one brother, Bert Rodgers.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Thomas, David Melton, Eric Stewart, Justin Coco, Randy Koch and Billy Sutton.
