NATCHEZ — A Centreville teen was served an indictment Sunday for a 2016 shooting that stemmed from an incident at school.
LaKendrick D. Washington, 18, 560 N. Laurel St., was indicted Friday on two counts of attempted murder and one county drive-by shooting.
Washington, though he was 16 at the time, was charged as an adult.
Washington was arrested in June 2016 after a group of juveniles in two cars reportedly approached a residence on Davis Court trying to start a fight with a 14-year-old.
After the father of the 14-year-old reportedly told the juveniles to leave the area, they allegedly got in their vehicles and two teens reportedly fired shots into the residence as they were driving away.
The father reportedly retrieved a gun from his truck and began firing back.
He was grazed by a bullet during the shooting, while the 14-year-old was shot in the left shoulder and had to be airlifted to an Alexandria hospital for treatment.
Washington, driving one of the vehicles, was shot in the right shoulder.
The fight allegedly originated from an incident that happened at Natchez High School earlier in 2016.
Washington, who had been in jail when he was served the indictment, was released on a $120,000 bond Sunday.
Washington is scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. on Nov. 14 in Sixth District Circuit Court before Judge Lillie Blackmon Sanders.
Jarvanti Keyon Doss, who was 19 at the time, was also arrested following the incident and charged with two counts attempted murder and one count drive by shooting.
