NATCHEZ — Services for Hattie Marie Elery-Ealey, 59, of Chicago, formerly of Natchez, who died Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, in Chicago, will be noon Saturday at Zion Flower Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. John Scott Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Services were also Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, in Chicago, at New St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church.
Ms. Ealey was born Jan. 1, 1958, in Natchez, the daughter of Willie Elery and Willie Beatrice Elery.
She was a 1976 graduate of North Natchez High School and furthered her education at Draughon’s Business College in Jackson.
Hattie was a faithful member of Zion Flower Church for almost 40 years. She was employed by Belk, formerly McRae’s, for 33 years until she retired in 2012. After her retirement, she moved to Chicago.
Hattie was a member of the Good Samaritans and Pearl Leaf Lodge No. 3. She enjoyed reading and shopping. What brought her much joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Willis Ivory; and one sister, Laura Mae Vaughn.
Survivors include one daughter, Kameithia Smith and husband, the Rev. Daniel Smith; two grandchildren, Emmyerie and Joshiah Smith; three brothers, Charles Elery and wife, Barbara, Lee Elery and wife, Nancy, and Johnny Elery and wife, Daisy; three sisters, Exeleana Jefferson and husband, Dave, Lynda Sanders and husband, Mark, and Brenda Moore and husband, Kenneth; her life’s companion and confidante, Alvin Ealey; two special cousins who were like sisters, Shirley Randall and Cozy Griffin; longtime best friend, Debbie Myles; and other relatives and friends.
