Brother reportedly stole twin’s identity

VIDALIA — A Vidalia man was arrested for identity theft among 13 other charges after the man reportedly gave officers the identifying information for his identical twin brother during a traffic stop.

Robert E. Lee, 46, 105 S. Magnolia St., was arrested by the Louisiana State Police on charges of no vehicle registration, no driver’s license, no proof of insurance, no moving vehicle insurance, switched license plates, driving under suspension, resisting an officer, identity theft, injuring public record, three counts of forgery and possession of marijuana.

Lee was first stopped on Sept. 2 because of an issue with his vehicle’s state inspection sticker and license plate.

Instead of giving officers his information, Lee allegedly provided that of his twin brother, who Daniel “Scott” Moreau of LSP public affairs would not name.

When the twin received a summons for court for the charges, he went to the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office to tell them he had received no such tickets.

Moreau said once officers uncovered the lie, the state trooper who had made the original stop asked if he could work the case.

When troopers located him, Lee was allegedly in possession of marijuana, which they added to his existing charges.

Lee was in Concordia Parish Jail and had no bond set as of Tuesday afternoon.
