LaSalle High School defeats Block, 34-30 Thursday night

OLLA, La. — The LaSalle High School Tigers defeated the Block High School Bears 34-20 Thursday night in the regular-season and LHSAA District 3-1A finale for both teams.

After a scoreless first quarter, LaSalle scored two touchdowns and was successful on both of its 2-point conversions in the second quarter to take a 16-6 halftime lead. The Tigers scored another touchdown in the third quarter to go up 22-6.

By the time Block’s offense got on track, it was too late. The Bears scored 14 points, but the Tigers scored two touchdowns of their own. Zorian Bowie was held to 37 yards on 15 carries with one touchdown and he went 12-for-32 passing for 174 yards and two touchdowns. Tyreke Harbor was on the receiving end of both of Bowie’s TD passes and he ended up with six receptions for 115 yards.

While LaSalle (5-5, 4-2), the No. 12 team in the Class 1A power ratings, probably assured itself of a home playoff game in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs, Block (2-8, 2-4), currently the No. 20 seed, will be on the road against next week against an opponent to be determined when the brackets come out this weekend.
