Ferriday takes care of Oakdale in first round, 60-14

Da’minya Milligan, Jerrius Scott and Kobe Dillon combined for 165 rushing yards and six touchdowns as the No. 2 seed Ferriday Trojans took care of the No. 31 seed Oakdale Warriors 60-14 Friday night in the first round of the LHSAA Class 2A Playoffs.

Milligan had eight carries for 56 yards and three touchdowns. Scott had eight carries for 53 yards and two touchdowns. Dillon had six carries for 56 yards and one score.

Dare Rosenthal had five and a half tackles, one of them for a loss, and returned a fumble 60 yards for a touchdown to lead the Trojans defense.

“We came out and played hard. We played great offensively and defensively,” Ferriday head coach Stanley Smith said. “We had great field position and we were able to take advantage of it.”

Ferriday scored two touchdowns to take an early 14-0 lead and then put the game out of reach with 22 points in the second quarter for a commanding 36-0 halftime lead.

“The kids played motivated. The kids played really hard tonight,” Smith said.

The Trojans weren’t done adding to their lead as they scored another 24 points in the third quarter to go up 60-0. Oakdale (3-8) managed to avoid being shut out in the fourth quarter.

Dillon completed four of nine passes for 101 yards and one touchdown. Jamien Green had three receptions for 78 yards.

Ferriday (9-2) will play host to No. 18 seed East Feliciana in a second-round match-up. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. next Friday. East Feliciana beat No. 15 seed Mansfield 38-28 Friday night.
