NATCHEZ — Graveside services for James Roy Beasley, 94, a lifelong resident of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, will be 12:30 p.m. today at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction Young’s Funeral Home in Vidalia.
Visitation will be from 10:30 until noon today at the funeral home.
Mr. Beasley was born Aug. 19, 1923, in Marion County, Ill., the son of William Beasley and Lula Heflin Beasley.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He fought during World War II in the South Pacific, where he was awarded a Purple Heart.
Mr. Beasley was a longtime member of Assembly of God Church. He was also owner of Beasley Construction Company and worked in the cemetery industry for more than 40 years. He was an owner of Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, now owned by his granddaughter, Page Beasley Brown and husband, Randy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Beasley; his parents; one daughter, Sharon Blake; two sons, Byford Beasley and James H. Beasley; one great-granddaughter, Theresa Brown; five sisters; and four brothers.
Survivors include one son, Ronald Beasley and wife, Myra; one daughter, Colleen Koonce and husband, James; son-in-law, Danny Blake and wife, Linda; daughter-in-law, Susie Beasley; 10 grandchildren, Page Beasley Brown and husband, Randy, Chan Beasley Martin, James D. “Jimbo” Beasley and wife, Sherry, Mary Beth Beasley, Michael Blake and wife, Jessica, Joshua Beasley, Amber Blake DeLasalle and husband, Adam, Robin Blake and wife, Merissa, Jonathan Beasley and Brandon Koonce; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Isles and Maxine Wells and husband, Bruce.
