Mrs. Carman was born Feb. 6, 1918, in Franklin County, the daughter of Willie Jerome Whitehead and Eliza Jane Hester Whitehead.
She was a member of Community Chapel Church of God and was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. She was actively involved in various groups and ministries in the church until she was unable to attend. Other than Jesus, her life was centered around her family. She and Joseph Carman were married in 1940. They remained a loving and dedicated couple until his death 62 years later. She was loved by her family and she loved them.
Being outside was something she really enjoyed and it was evident in the beautiful yard she maintained. Good food was always found in her home. She was a great cook and adept at whipping up a delicious southern meal in a jiffy. She grew most of the vegetables she cooked or preserved for later enjoyment.
Another special thing about mom, she was a great prayer warrior. When there were concerns in the family, she knew who to get in touch with, the one who could make a difference. We will miss her until we see her again. She is too busy rejoicing in heaven to miss anything on this earth. Praise God! She is where she longed to be.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters, Delores
Bedford, Thelma Boswell, Nora Lee and Ruth Wallace; six brothers, Winton, Henry, Otis, Frank, Timothy and Clyde.
Survivors include two daughters, Billie Ann Carman Mc Calman and husband, Tom, and Louise Carman and Roy Koons; five grandchildren, Carman Stahl and husband, Don, Jamil Evans and husband, Ronnie, Joseph McCalman and wife, Susan, Caprice Kent and Heather Kent; four great-grandchildren, Amber Norsworthy and husband, Tyler, Liam Evans, Jess Evans, Mallaree McIntyre and husband, Josh; three great-great-grandchildren, Zayn McCalman, Cole Isonhood and Owen McCalman; sister-in-law, Irma Lee Whitehead; and a number of nieces and nephews, each of whom she loved.
