NATCHEZ — Services for Betty Sue Vestal Verucchi, 86, of Natchez, who died peacefully at her home Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, with her family present, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Assumption Catholic Church with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.

Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Mrs. Verucchi was born May 15, 1931, in Danville, Ark. She was the next to the youngest of nine children of Marvin T. Vestal and Pearl Dennis Vestal.

She married Augustine Verucchi Jr., May 8, 1948, and was happily married for 69 Years.

Mrs. Verucchi was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren — sharing with them her love of fishing, hunting and the outdoors. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary (VFW) who she proudly joined on the eligibility of two of her sons who served in Viet Nam.

Mrs. Verucchi was blessed with five children, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, born the day of her death.

Mrs. Verucchi was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jay Verucchi; three brothers, Tee Vestal, Ted Vestal and Mack Vestal; two sisters, Helen Huber and Maudie Hendricks; and one grandchild.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Augustine; two sons Donnie Verucchi and wife, Carolyn, of Natchez, and Mark Verucchi and wife, Shannon, of Brandon; two daughters, Sue Verucchi of Vidalia, and Angie Havard and husband, Kenny, of Brandon; 10 grandchildren, Matt Verucchi and wife, Karen, Connor Verucchi and wife, Diane, Tonya Eason and husband, Brian, Colby Verucchi all of Natchez, Jered Skates and wife, Chasity, of Brookhaven, Hayden Verucchi and wife, Tiffany, of Foxworth, Christy Staggs and husband, Lee, of Denham Springs, La., Raleigh Havard, Tanner Havard and Mark Austin, all of Brandon; one sister, Margaret Shupe of Natchez; and one brother, Dale Vestal of Ferriday.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Great-grandsons as honorary pallbearers.
