Vidalia — Vidalia police say no evidence of foul play could be found after a car was found Saturday engulfed in flames.

The Chevrolet Tahoe was found already burning in the parking lot of Comfort Inn and Suites at approximately 6 a.m. when Vidalia Police Officers were called to the scene.

Vidalia Police Chief Joey Merrill said the car’s owner was a hotel guest.

Merrill said the guest had used the Tahoe to jump off his work truck early that morning.

Police say they believe this led to an electrical fire that consumed the vehicle.

“We have no evidence of foul play,” Merrill said.

Firefighters from the Vidalia Fire Department extinguished the fire early Saturday morning.

Representatives of the fire department declined to comment.
