Francine Church Presley

NATCHEZ — Services for Francine Church Presley, 94, who died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, in St. Louis, Mo., will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Zion Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church.  

Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mrs. Presley was born July 30, 1923, in Natchez, the only child of Frank Church and Lenna Brown.

She was raised in Natchez and attended elementary and high school in Natchez. She received her degree in education from Southern University in Louisiana. She taught elementary school in the Natchez school system for 36 years.

She married her childhood sweetheart, Rovell Presley, who was a devoted, loving husband and father to their only child, Rovell “Ronnie” Presley Jr.

Francine enjoyed life, her students, whom she called her children, and enjoyed traveling. But her passion was her music and church.

She was a life-long member of Zion Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church. She was devoted to her music and church, where she was the music minister and played the organ for 65 years. She played until she was 91.

Survivors include one stepdaughter, Patricia Presley Washington and husband, Percy; three sisters, Ruth Evans Lane and husband, Eric, Marguerite Evans Saunders and husband, William, and Edna Evans and husband, Charles; one cousin, Michel Frazier; her Zion Chapel church family; a number of nieces and nephews; and a number of very dear friends.
