Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong said deputies responded to a 911 call from Moore’s girlfriend, who said that Moore was attacking her.

On the scene early Saturday morning, Armstrong said officers observed bruises on the girlfriend’s neck and body that indicated that Moore had strangled her and “tossed her around a bit.”

The girlfriend told officers she and Moore had gotten into an argument because she had caught Moore talking with another woman.

Officers said the incident escalated and resulted in the assault.

Moore was being held at the Natchez police department without bond as of Saturday evening.

A person convicted of felony aggravated assault can be punished by a fine of no more than $5,000 or by imprisonment of no more than 30 years, or both.

Moore’s court date is set for 10 a.m., Jan. 10, 2018.
