NATCHEZ — Services for Irene H. Jones, 85, who died Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at Franklin County Nursing Home, will be 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Spruce Derden officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jones was born March 8, 1932, in Franklin County, the daughter of Henry Stanley Harrigill and Effie Beaube Harrigill.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Often times you could find her outside — tending to her flowers and garden. She loved and found joy in quilting. It gave her great pleasure in gifting her beautiful work to her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Curtis M. Jones; three brothers, Edward Harrigill and wife, Geneva, Willie Harrigill and Henry Wesley Harrigill; and one sister, Pauline Russell and husband, Jim.

Survivors include one daughter, Virginia Hale and husband, Kenneth, of Natchez; one son, Curtis Glenn Jones and wife, Melba, of Natchez; two grandchildren, Jennifer Mathis and husband, Brad, of Parrish, Fla., and Beau Hale and wife, Holly, of Amite, La.; seven great-grandchildren, John Austin and Keri Beth Pitre, Ethan and Andrew Mathis, Phoebe Claire, Drake and Cooper Hale; nine siblings, Claude Harrigill and wife, Susie, Bettie Rae Sanders, Marie Mullins, Josie Cloy, Ruth Harrigill, Frances Dunn, Allice Case, Pink “Junior” Jones and wife, Faye, and Henrietta Felter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Glenn Jones, Beau Hale, John Austin Pitre, Wayne Felter, Brad Mathis and Pink “Junior” Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cooper Hale, Drake Hale, Ethan Mathis, Andrew Mathis and Richard Rhodes.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
