NATCHEZ — Services for Edeen Harris Galbreath, 90, of Natchez, who died Sunday, March 25, 2018, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Wynn officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until time service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Galbreath was born March 16, 1925, in Skene, the daughter of Edward Harris and Maggie Lee McAtee Harris.

Edeen was a delta girl — she grew up between Skene and Gunnison. Following her high school graduation, she earned degrees in English and Bible from Blue Mountain College. In August 1949, she accepted an elementary teaching job in Natchez where she met the love of her life, Scott. They married Nov. 23, 1949, and had quite the adventure together. Edeen loved her children and was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Edeen was famous for her Poodle parlor, where she groomed dogs from within 60 miles of Natchez for years. She assisted “Doc” in his various occupations as a veterinarian, cattleman, Natchez Stockyards owner, farmer and founder of Old South Winery.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. Scott O. Galbreath Jr. and two brothers, Kenneth Harris and Joe Frank Harris.

Survivors include six children, Ellen Connor of Plano, Texas, Diane Galbreath and Scott Galbreath III, both of Natchez, Karen Blaylock of Ft. Worth, Texas, Sandra Martin and husband, Aubry, of Collinsville and Teresa Aust and husband, John Ault Sr., of Brooklyn; 21 grandchildren, Heather Briggs and husband, Roger, Mark Vest Jr. and wife, Kortney, Megan Walker, Susan Walker, Ian Conner, Tim Willis Jr. and wife, Heike, Sharon Henrikson and husband, Michael, Robert Blaylock Jr., Sarah McCrary and husband, Adam, Stephen Blaylock, Jarrett Martin and wife, Emilie, Jessica Paes and husband, Jacob, Melissa Spencer and husband, James, Marcus Martin, John Aust Jr., Jennifer Aust, William Aust and wife, India, Katherine Aust, Scott Galbreath IV, Dylan Galbreath, Lane Galbreath and Juliana Galbreath; 22 great-grandchildren, Thomas and Reagan Briggs, Porter, Barrett, Anna and Mabel Vest, Timothy Willis III and Luke Willis, Michael Jr., Andrew and Addison Henrikson, Aryanna, Sean, Makayla and Angela McCrary, Elizabeth and Alexander Martin, Chase, Samantha, and Brayden Paes, Zoey Henry and Scottlyn Galbreath; and two sisters, Wanda Fowler of Madison and Martha Baptise of Walls.

The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Ken Stubbs, Ashley Wilson and Edeen’s loving caregivers, Sandra Bailey, Mary Nell Dixon, Megan Cross and Alline Watkins.
