Save the Hall Ball at Stanton Hall Saturday

Published 12:01 am Tuesday, March 27, 2018

Bettye Jenkins and Ruthie Coy, 2018 Honorary Chairmen, invite you to join us for the 4th Annual “Save the Hall Ball” from 9:30 p.m. until 1 a.m. Saturday at Natchez’s most palatial mansion, Stanton Hall.

Dance under the oaks, see what surprises John Grady Burns has in store this year in his spectacular decor, and raise a glass to those who’ve partied there before.

Come help us celebrate the success of the women who transformed old Natchez houses into National Historic Landmarks, who lit the fire of historic preservation across the country and who started a groundbreaking tourism business. Come celebrate also the continued success and expansion of Natchez tourism. Come for a great party!

Start your night at the Royal Evening Under the Stars at Longwood with the story of Julia Nutt and the timeless music from Show Boat along with traditional dances including the Maypole and Soirée Sweetheart Waltz. Raise a champagne toast to the Pilgrimage Garden Club Royal Court and King and Queen, then come to the Ball.

The Pilgrimage Garden Club is the dedicated steward of both National Historic Landmarks, Stanton Hall and Longwood. These houses are both open daily and have anchored year round Natchez tourism for decades. Despite providing ongoing vital maintenance and meticulous care, the structural components of the massive cornice and period architectural adaptations at Stanton Hall require major capital expenditure. The good news is the work has started at Stanton Hall.

The Pilgrimage Historical Association supports this project and is a 501c3 Charitable Organization. Your patron gifts and tickets are tax deductible as allowed by the Internal Revenue Service. All gifts are welcome. Checks should be made payable to Pilgrimage Historical Association, P. O. Box 347, Natchez, Mississippi 39121.

The necessary repairs at Stanton Hall include the structural system, masonry and stucco on the entablature. Professionals on the project are George Fore, Architectural Conservator, Larry Albert of Albert and Robinson Architects, and United Restoration and Preservation of Fayetteville, Georgia.

Obviously, the project at Stanton Hall will be an expensive undertaking, so the Pilgrimage Historical Association is presenting the Save the Hall Ball for the fourth year.

Please join us on Saturday. It’s Easter weekend, so bring — or send — your families and friends to this fabulous party. Many families are making it an annual tradition. We hope we will see you Saturday night in Stanton Hall!

Tickets start at $100.00. To purchase, go to natchezpilgrimage.com, call 800-647-6742 or visit NPT at 640 Canal Street in Natchez. For Patron packages call 601-445-4420 or email savethehallball@gmail.com.
