ST. FRANCISVILLE, La. — Just when it looked like the LHSAA Class 2A Vidalia High School Vikings were on their way to their 15th win of the season, the Class 3A West Feliciana High School Saints had other ideas.

On a warm, windy Tuesday afternoon, West Feliciana rallied in the final three and a half innings to defeat Vidalia 7-6 after scoring the game-winning run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Tristan Weatherly breezed through the first three innings on the mound for Vidalia, keeping West Feliciana off the scoreboard. Yet the Vikings were only up 1-0 at that point. Then it looked like their offense would give Weatherly more than enough run support after scoring four runs in the top of the fourth inning for a 5-0 advantage.

However, the Saints scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to make it a 6-6 game. The Vikings scored one run in the top of the sixth to go up 6-4 before West Feliciana started its second rally of the game.

Weatherly went five and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits, two walks and one hit batter to go with eight strikeouts. Nick Melton, who was charged with the loss, came on in relief and allowed one unearned run on two hits with one walk and two strikeouts in one inning. Cameron Rodgers went 2-for-2 with a double and Leo Lozano was 2-for-5 with one run scored.

Vidalia (14-9) plays host to Franklin Parish High School at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Central Private School 8, ACCS 3

CENTRAL, La. — Jace Pendarbis overcame five walks by striking out seven batters and limiting the Adams County Christian School Rebels to just two hits in four and one-third innings as the Central Private School Rebels took an 8-3 win Tuesday night in an MAIS District 5-AAA game.

The game was scoreless until ACCS scored one run in the top of the third inning. But a four-run rally in the bottom of the third gave Central Private the lead for good. The host Rebels added two runs in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the bottom of the sixth to make it an 8-1 game.

The visiting Rebels from Natchez tried to rally themselves in the top of the seventh, but could only plate two runs. Jacob McDaniel allowed four runs (three earned) on one hit and four walks to go with six strikeouts over three innings.

ACCS (12-9, 1-3) hosts Central Private for an important district varsity doubleheader Friday at 5 and 7 p.m.
