NATCHEZ — Services for James Edgar Delaney, 90, of Natchez, who died Monday, April 23, 2018, at his residence, will be 3 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joseph Bland officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Delaney was born June 21, 1927, in Brookhaven, the son of Edgar Delaney and Velma DeLaughter Delaney.

He was employed by Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company for 37 years and retired as the superintendent of maintenance. He also owned James Delaney Electrical Company. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy. His hobbies included fishing, flying and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Janie Stutzman; one brother, Bill Delaney; and son-in-law, E.G. Dukes.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Ruth Curry Delaney; two daughters, Linda Dukes of Natchez and Margaret Wimberly and husband, John, of Wilmington, N.C.; four  grandchildren, Lindy Wilson Clifton and husband, Stephen, of Vicksburg, Erinn Wilson Alberts and husband, Chris, of Moody, Ala., Jason Wimberly and wife, Charity, of Acworth, Ga., and Brian Wimberly of Wilmington; eight great-grandchildren, Shelby Rhodes, Morgan Fortenberry, Alex Clifton, Summer Arnold, Skylar Dukes, London Wimberly, Nola Wimberly and Madison Wimberly; and two great-great-grandchildren, Teagan and Brylee Arnold.

Pallbearers will be Greg Brown, Alex Clifton, Chris Alberts, Eddie Stutzman, Stephen Dukes and Kenny Fly.

Honorary pallbearers will be Skeeter Wilson, Ray Boyd, Jack Scott and Curtis King.

The family extends a special thanks to Camellia Hospice and sitter, Lorraine Anderson.
