NATCHEZ — Graveside memorial services for Edmund Anthony “Tony” Burke Jr., 68, of Iowa Park, Texas, formerly of Natchez, who died Thursday, April 19, 2018, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Natchez City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the cemetery.
Mr. Burke was born June 8, 1949, in Natchez, the son of Edmund and Bobbie Burke.
He was a 1967 graduate of Cathedral High School.
Following high school graduation, he attended the University of Southern Mississippi before beginning his professional career in the automotive services industry. He held various positions throughout his professional career – most notably, he owned his own collision repair business, T. Burke, LTD, for more than two decades.
Some of the things he enjoyed in life were his studies of pastoral theology at Loyola University in New Orleans, participating in the Great Mississippi Balloon Race in various official and unofficial capacities and spending time with friends and family. Most of all, he loved his home on the bluff.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Spencer.
Survivors include three sons, Jamie Spencer Burke and wife, Elaine Cowart Burke, of Canton, Ogan Anthony Burke and wife, Stacey Marie Burke, of Marietta, Ga., and Joshua Tyler Burke of Natchez; one brother, Richard Burke of Natchez; two sisters, Nettie Spencer Gautreau of Vidalia and JoElla Burke of Lafayette, La.; four grandchildren; a number of other family members, Spencer Riley Burke, Ainsley Belle Burke, Ella Marie Burke, Carter Anthony Burke, Barbara Frye Burke, Carolyn Harigill O’Beirne, John O’Beirne and Dovie Russell Reeder; and he will also be missed by his extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
