NATCHEZ — For young adults who need something to do this summer, the City of Natchez still has plenty of spots open for its summer youth program.

The city is looking to fill 12 spots, and at least eight of those spots still remain open, City Clerk Megan Edmonds said. The only qualification for the program is that the applicant must be between the ages of 18 and 25.

The program aims to help local young adults get experience and learn what working for a city is like, all while getting paid. Though the city is looking to orient participants Tuesday, Edmonds said the city will continue taking applications afterward, and she hopes for an influx of applicants.

“I would just hate to see any applicants left available, because it would be a great opportunity,” Edmonds said.

Some of those opportunities include spots with Edmonds in the clerk’s office, while she said another spot is open in the public works division, which works to maintain city streets and property.

Those interested can sign up by visiting the city council chambers, located at 115 S. Pearl St., filling out an application and submitting it in to the human resources department located in the building.
