FERRIDAY — Funeral services for Mary Harrison Melancon, 72, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at her residence, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ferriday with Father John Pardue officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the directions of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Melancon, daughter of William Henry and Alice Person Harrison was born in Taboro, North Carolina. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Alex J. Melancon; five brothers, four sisters, and one granddaughter, Rose Janay Clark.

She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Fannie Smith and her husband, Clarence, of Ferriday; three sisters: Honermiss Gorhan and her husband, Emanuel, Althelia Bishop and her husband, Arthur and Lolia Harrison, all of Newport News, Virginia; four grandchildren: Alex Harrison, Anthony Smith, Eric Spillers and De’India Smith; two great-grandchildren: Alexia and Aleya Harrison; special goddaughter Doris Turner Hooper and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
