Voters go to polls Tuesday in Democratic, Republican primaries

NATCHEZ — Polls will open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today as voters select their party candidates for both a U.S. House and Senate spot.

Today’s primary for both the U.S. House of Representatives 3rd Congressional District seat — soon to be vacated by Gregg Harper — and the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Roger Wicker will take place throughout the day at 19 different polling locations.

The Adams County Circuit Clerk’s office received just more than 200 absentee votes as well as six out-of-country ballots heading into today’s primary.

“I would certainly encourage everybody to get out and to make their voices heard; to please get out to the polls and vote,” Circuit Clerk Eddie Walker said.

Voters must visit certain polling stations based upon the district in which they reside.

District 1 residents will vote at the Natchez Mall, Crosspoint Church or the Adams County Courthouse.

District 2 precincts will be located at Calvary Baptist Church, Duncan Park, the Kingston Fire Station and the Adams County Safe Room.

District 3 voting locations will be at Christian Hope Baptist Church, the Maryland Heights Recreation Building, the David R. Steckler Multipurpose Building and at the Liberty Road Volunteer Fire Department.

District 4 sites will be Rose Hill Baptist Church, Morgantown School, Frazier School and the District 4 Barn located on Foster Mound Road.

District 5 voting polls will be located at the Natchez-Adams County Airport, the Foster Mound Volunteer Fire Department, Lovely Lane Methodist Church and New Hope Baptist Church.

Voters will choose between the following Democratic candidates for United States Senate in today’s primary:

  • David Baria
  • Jenson Bohren,
  • Jerone Garland
  • Victor G. Maurice Jr.
  • Omeria Scott
  • Howard Sherman

The following Democratic candidates will vie for the U.S. House of Representatives 3rd Congressional District seat:

  • Michael Aycox
  • Ted Evans

On the Republican side, voters will find the following names on ballots today for the U.S. Senate Seat:

  • Richard Warren Boyanton
  • Roger Wicker

Lastly, these Republicans are the choices for the U.S. House of Representatives 3rd Congressional District in today’s primary:

  • Sally Doty
  • Morgan Dunn
  • Michael Guest
  • Whit Hughes
  • Perry Parker
  • Katherine “Bitzi” Tate
