NATCHEZ — Services for Mary Lee Brown Johnson, 94, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Merit Health Natchez, will be at 10 a.m. today at Grace United Methodist Church in Natchez with the Rev. Linda Fox officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Ms. Johnson was born on Oct. 9, 1923, in Buffalo, the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Hattie Phipps Brown. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and dearly loved her church family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, William Mitchell Ashmore; her second husband, Wilton Johnson; one daughter, Michelle Smedley; two brothers, Norris Brown and T.J. Brown; and one sister, Mae Brown Breithaupt.
Survivors include one son, Mitch Ashmore and wife, Lynne, of Ferriday; three granddaughters, Sarah Ashmore Ketchings and husband, Walt, and Abbey Claire Ashmore, all of Baton Rouge, and Mollye Brown Ashmore Dupréand husband, Dominic, of Houston; one great-grandson, Walter Hogue Ketchings IV of Baton Rouge; three siblings, Sonny Brown and wife Barbara, Beverly Brown Sutton and husband, Lester, and Cille Brown Henderson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Walt Ketchings, Dominic Dupré, Kenny Brown, Michael Burley, Mike Ellard and Sammy Porter.
Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or a charity of one’s choice.
