GREENWELL SPRINGS, La. — Memorial services for Dr. Harry Kenneth “Ken” Whitam, 73, of Baton Rouge, who died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018, will be noon Saturday at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church in Greenwell Springs, La.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Dr. Whitam retired in 2005 from the Louisiana State University Ag Center and was well recognized in his field of plant pathology, earning a number of prestigious awards.
He received his bachelor of science and master of science degrees from Northeast Louisiana State College and his doctorate from L.S.U.
Whitam was an avid outdoorsman, taking many trips to his camp in Grand Isle, where he and his high school sweetheart, Linda, and wife of 54 years, loved walking along the beach in search of their “treasures.” They loved to fish, spend time at “The Camp” and entertain family and friends.
Whitam was preceded in death by his father, Clarence C. Whitam, his mother, Pauline H. Wilkinson and stepfather, Earl Wilkinson; and two brothers, Clarence and Fred Whitam.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Harrigill Whitam; one son, Neil Whitam and wife, Rhonda; two daughters, Dana Musso and husbands, JC, and Melissa Kenyon and husband, Doug; and six grandchildren, Kaycie Bennett, Abigail and Hayden Whitam, Keaton Musso, Hannah and Hudson Kenyon.
The family extends thanks to the ICU staff at Our Lady of the Lake and Clarity Hospice for taking wonderful care of them and their loved one during this difficult time.
