WOODVILLE — Services for Lallie Lawson Catchings Owens, 81, of Woodville, who died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 1 p.m. today at Woodville United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Upshaw officiating.
Burial will follow at Wimbish-Rogillio Cemetery in Tunica, La., under the direction of Newman Funeral Home in Centreville.
Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the church.       
Mrs. Owens was born Nov. 17, 1936, in Woodville, the daughter of Dr. Charles Evans Catchings Jr. and Frances Elizabeth Lawson Catchings.
She was a 1958 graduate of Louisiana State University where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She was a retired home economics teacher, a junior high science teacher and a wonderful patron of Wilkinson County Christian Academy.
Owens was active in the Woodvillians Dance Club and the Junior Irvin Russell Club. She was a member of the Pilgrimage Garden Club of Natchez and often participated in the tableaux. For a number of years, she served as the county chair for the American Heart Association as well as president of the Town of Woodville Library Board. She loved genealogy, gardening, sewing and cheering on her LSU Tigers.
Owens was preceded in death by parents; one infant son; and one brother, Charles Evans Catchings III.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Dr. Louis Jennings Owens; three daughters, Lallie Owens Bennentt and husband, Wes, Reily Ann Owens and Holli Owens Walker and husband, Ed; she was known as Mimaw to five grandchildren, John Jennings and wife, Ashley, Wesley and Lallie Elise Bennett, Emma and Jennings Walker; two great-grandchildren, Owen and Levi Bennett; two sisters, Ann Catchings Ventress and husband, Alex, and Frances Catchings Devening of Woodville; and sister-in-law, Patricia Kelly Catchings of Highlands, N.C.
Pallbearers will be nephews and Patrick Carpenter.
