NATCHEZ — Thursday morning, Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies reportedly caught a subject in the act of stealing seized items an Adams County storage barn.
Chief Deputy Jerry Brown said the barn — in an undisclosed location — is a building used to store seized items, such as vehicles and tools, that may have been used during drug runs or other crimes.
Brown said at approximately 10 a.m. Thursday, deputies found Dale Alonzo Jackson Jr., 37 of Woodville, removing objects from the building.
Brown said Jackson tried to flee from deputies before he was apprehended.
Brown said items, reportedly stolen from the barn, were found during a search of Jackson’s vehicle after his arrest.
“(Deputies) found a few batteries and assorted tools,” Brown said. “Jackson’s background check shows several traffic violations but no other criminal record.”
Jackson was transported to the Adams County Jail, where he was being held Thursday. No bond had been set Thursday afternoon.
