FERRIDAY — Services for James Baldridge Williams, 86 of Vidalia, who died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, will be noon Thursday at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with Rev. Wes Faulk officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Internment will follow at Turkey Creek Cemetery, Gilbert, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home. 

J.B.Williams was born on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1931, in Winnsboro, the son of Joseph Homer Williams and Carrie Brown Williams. He was a resident of Vidalia, a member of Vidalia First Baptist Church, the American Society of Safety Engineers and the Certified Safety Professionals.

J.B. was a 32nd Degree Mason with over 65 years of service in the Vidalia Lodge, Concordia 305, and worked for International Paper for over 40 years as the Health Safety Regional Coordinator, working out of Natchez, Mobile, Memphis and New York. He proudly served his Country in the United States Navy. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Geneva Lebeaux Williams; three brothers, Joseph Mourece Williams, Enoch Alvin Williams and Carl Julian Williams; six sisters, Cecil Gertrude Crane, Margie Missouri Barnes, Emma Laverne Stevens, Carrie Mae Fowler, Mattie Bernice Johnson and Bonnie Merciel Scranton.

He is survived by two sons, James Ray Williams and his wife, Connie, of Fletcher, N.C. and Kenneth Alan Williams and his wife, Connie, of Bush; one daughter, Rhonda Williams Lees and her husband H.H. “Sonny” of Natchez.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be Jess Williams, Hollis Lees, Brian Lees, Jason Lees, Justin Lees and Landon Lees.
