NATCHEZ — Services for the Rev. Bishop Melvin Jackson Sr., 69, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Jackson officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Bishop Jackson was born Sept. 24, 1948, in Natchez, the son of William Jackson and Josephine Jackson.
He was a graduate of Jackson State University with a bachelor’s degree in music.
Jackson was pastor of Greater New Jerusalem Apostolic Healing Temple. He enjoyed golfing, tuning pianos and motorcycle riding.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Williams Anderson and Eddie Lee Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Queen Irma Jackson; two sons, Melvin Jackson Jr. and wife, Shelia, and Samuel Jackson; two daughters, Demetris Monique J. Stringfellow and husband, Demetrius, and Belinda McIntrye; one sister, Patsy White and husband, Don; three grandchildren, Christopher E. Jackson, Kristen S. Jackson and Nicholas Stringfellow; and other relatives and friends.
