NATCHEZ — Services for Mary Margaret Rowan King, 57, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, in Jackson, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at New Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Ford Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 5:30 p.m. today with a celebration of life service at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Visitation will continue Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. King was born on Oct. 15, 1960, in Natchez, the daughter of Leroy Rowan Sr. and Ethel Clay Rowan.
King was a graduate of South Natchez High School. She was a member of New Zion Baptist Church No. 1 and was a member of the senior choir.
King was employed at Merit Health Hospital as a CNA before she became ill. Mary, affectionately known as “Mae,” enjoyed cooking and shared much love and inspiration socializing with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father; three brothers, Leroy Rowan Jr., Trim L. Rowan Sr. and William M. Rowan; and two sisters, Audrey Rowan and Lynn Shelia Rowan.
Survivors include her husband, Thurston King; one daughter, Chance Sinclair King; her mother; one brother, Sedric Lawrence Rowan; five sisters, Alice Skinner and husband, Bill, of New Orleans, Vertis R. Flanagan, Jerlian R. King, Donna R. Laurant, all of Natchez, and Patricia R. Williams and husband, James, of El Paso, Texas; mother-in-law, Ollie King; three brothers-in-law, Troy King, Kenneth King and Alfred King; two sisters-in-law, Shelia King and Gwendolyn King; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, church members and friends.
