NATCHEZ — Two teams will put undefeated seasons on the line Friday at 7 p.m. when the MAIS Class AAA Adams County Christian School Rebels host the Class AAAA Oak Forest Academy Yellow Jackets at Bobby Marks Stadium for homecoming.

ACCS is 4-0 overall after taking care of the Columbia Academy Cougars 42-14 last week. Oak Forest brings a 5-0 record into this game after escaping with a 44-43 win over Bowling Green School.

The Yellow Jackets are also just outside of the top 5 in the Mississippi Associated Press private school poll.

“They’re a well-coached team. They’re a well-disciplined team. They’re going to play hard. They’re going to play every snap,” Rebels assistant coach Richy Spears said. “They’ve always been a defensive team. They always run the football.”

The one thing head coach David King would like to see from his team is much fewer penalties. The Rebels were penalized 17 times for 160 yards last Friday night. And against an opponent the caliber of Oak Forest, that cannot happen if they any chance of pulling off the upset.

“We’ve just got to control the line of scrimmage, offensively and defensively,” Spears said. “We’ve got to get the ball to our playmakers and tackle their playmakers. They’ve also got some playmakers.”

And those standout playmakers for the Rebels to watch for are senior athlete Jakarius Caston, senior quarterback Sterling Yarbrough, junior D.J. Stampley, junior tight end/defensive end Yohan Thompson, and junior middle linebacker Rhet McDonald.

Yet what makes this year’s homecoming game for ACCS so unusual is that it takes place after the Rebels have already played three straight home games.

Copiah Academy at Cathedral

NATCHEZ — Coming off an embarrassing 54-20 loss at Simpson Academy, the Cathedral High School Green Wave returns to D’Evereux Stadium Friday when it hosts the Copiah Academy Colonels in Cathedral. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

One of the things Cathedral has done in recent years is pay tribute/appreciation to the military by having an Armed Forces Game. That will take place this Friday before kickoff.

And while Copiah Academy isn’t the football powerhouse that Simpson Academy is, this is the second straight Class AAAA opponent for Cathedral (3-1) and the Green Wave cannot take the Colonels for granted.

Even though the Colonels dropped to 2-3 overall after losing at Madison-Ridgeland Academy 52-14, they did defeat the Green Wave last year in Gallman 43-6.

Centreville Academy at Bowling Green School

CENTREVILLE — The Centreville Academy Tigers will take a two-game winning streak on the road to Franklinton, La. when they face the Bowling Green School Buccaneers Friday at 7 p.m.

Centreville improved to 3-2 overall, but it took overtime for the Tigers to hold on for a 16-8 win over a good Central Private School team. Bowling Green fell to 4-1 overall after the Buccaneers’ tough loss at Oak Forest Academy.

When these two teams faced each other last year at Centreville, the Tigers rolled to a 42-20 win over the Buccaneers.

WCCA at Tensas Academy

WOODVILLE — For the first time in over a decade, Wilkinson County Christian Academy and Tensas Academy will face each other on the gridiron when the Rams travel to St. Joseph, La. to take on the Chiefs in MAIS 8-Man Division 4 action Friday night.

This will be the division opener for WCCA, which is at 2-2 overall after a 30-0 win at Claiborne Academy. Rams senior quarterback D’mario Weathersby accounted for over 200 yards of total offense and three touchdowns.

However, this will be third division game for Tensas Academy. The Chiefs are 3-2 overall and 2-0 in division play after taking care of Rebul Academy on the road 48-0.
