In the LHSAA District 2-2A opener for both teams, Rayville (0-4, 0-1) looked sharp in the first half in taking an 8-0 lead after one quarter of play and 20-8 lead on Ferriday at halftime. But whatever head coach Stanley Smith said at halftime apparently worked.
After scoring two touchdowns and adding two successful two-point conversions to trail just 26-24 nearly midway through the third quarter, the Trojans finally took the lead later on in the quarter and their defense made that lead stand.
