FERRIDAY — Funeral services for Miss. Marie Potts, 74, of Ferriday, La., will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, at the First Baptist Church Ferriday, with the Rev. Josh Morea and the Rev. Larry Wagoner officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Natchez under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church Ferriday.

Miss Potts was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church Ferriday, a school teacher for more than 50 years in Concordia Parish schools, and enjoyed going to watch her kids play sports, whatever and wherever they went. She was the owner of Marie’s Tree’s, a Christmas tree farm, for over 20 years.

She was preceded in death by parents Glenn and Getis Potts, and a brother Glynworth “Sonny” Potts.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Potts of Ferriday; niece, Glynece “Tootsie” Potts Ferguson of Ferriday; two great nieces, Christina F. Peoples and her husband, Jr., and Tiffany Ferguson, both of Monterey; one great-great niece, Meah Peoples; two great-great nephews, Austin Peoples and Braylin Myers; and a number of friends and students that will miss her.

Pallbearers will be Austin Peoples, Ples Arthur, Milt Neal, Carson Miley, Billy Lee and James King.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dallas Batey, Butch Hosea, Harry Porter and Wayne Miley.
