Ferriday beats Delhi Charter 59-2

DELHI, La. — The Ferriday High School Trojans used a big first quarterto defeat the Delhi Charter School Gators 59-2 Friday night to remainundefeated in LHSAA District 2-2A.

Byron Milligan two touchdown runs, the first set up by a longopening-kickoff return by Sebastian Turner, and Da’minya Milligan hada 55-yard punt return for a touchdown as Ferriday scored 27 points inthe first quarter.

“Tonight we came out and executed,” Ferriday head coach Stanley Smithsaid. “We were playing physical and fast.”

Kobe Dillon threw a 20-yard TD pass to Tyus Turner nearly midwaythrough the opening quarter. Dillon completed 13 of 17 passes for 168yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.

“We made plays tonight. Defensively, we played our football – alignment, assignment, and execution,” Smith said. “When you score on all three phases, that says something about your team.”

Dillon threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Turner and Da’minya Milliganscored on a three-yard run to give the Trojans a commanding 39-0halftime lead. And Da’minya wasn’t done yet as scored on a 95-yard TDrun with about 8 to go in the third quarter for a 45-0 advantage.

Ferriday’s offense put up 501 total yards. Da’minya Milligan had sixcarries for 130 yards while Byron Milligan had 93 yards and two scoreson just five carries. Jaquarius Davis and Demetrius Redden each hadtouchdown runs in the fourth quarter.

Delhi Charter (4-5, 2-3) put an end to Ferriday’s shutout bid, but noton offense. The Gators’ defense recorded a safety with nearly 6 togo in the fourth quarter.

Ferriday (6-3, 5-0) will look to win the outright District 2-2Achampionship when it hosts Beekman Charter School Friday at 7 p.m.
