NATCHEZ — Services for Ruth Fatherree, age 80, who died Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, at Meritt Health Natchez will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating. Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at St. Mary Basilica.

Mrs. Fatherree was born March 7, 1938 in Natchez, the daughter of James Hughes Keyer and Mary Ruth Hamlett Keyer.

She was a member of St. Mary Basilica and was a childcare giver at the Jefferson Street United Methodist Church nursery. Ruthie was known throughout the community for her acts of kindness. She had the ability to make each person feel special. She was an avid walker and animal lover.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles “Skip” Fatherree, and her son, Michael Fatherree.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Daniels and husband, Ronnie, of Natchez and Ellen Gardner and husband, Prentiss of Brandon; one son David Fatherree and wife, Debi, of Brandon; eight grandchildren, John Michael Burns, Olivia Jones, Laura Lundstrom, Mallory Ainsworth, Mary Ellen Gardner, Katherine Luckey, Hannah Fatherree  and Bobby Fatherree; and eight great grandchildren.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Prentiss Gardner

Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the American Cancer Society
