LAKE ST. JOHN — Services for Creola Jefferson Barber, 86, of Lake St. John, who died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew Baptist Church at Lake St. John.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Barber was born Feb. 20, 1932, in Lismore, La., the daughter of Isaac and Mollie Carter Jefferson.
She was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church where she served as an usher and on the mother’s board.
Barber was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James I. Barber Sr.; three sons, George Andrew Barber, Clarence Barber and James I Barber Jr.; and all of her siblings.
Survivors include one son, William Barber; seven daughters, Deloris Barber and Jennie Barber, all of Ferriday, Gladys Welsh and husband, Herbert, Frances Wilson and husband, Henderson, all of New Orleans, Leola Grant and husband, Isaiah, of Orlando, Fla., Ella Alexander and husband, Jimmy, of Columbia, S.C., and Alice Barber of Hawthorne, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, friends and neighbors.
