NATCHEZ — A man and a woman, county officials said, died Sunday night of what is believed to be carbon monoxide poisoning.

Tippie Proby Jr., 61, and Alice Marie Thomas, 65, were found deceased at approximately 10 p.m. Sunday, said James Lee, Adams County coroner.

The couple, Lee said, was lying next to each other fully clothed in a small portable building at 21 Kudzu Lane with no electricity.

“The couple was using a small propane generator in the center of the house to run small appliances,” Lee said. “It appears that they may have died of carbon monoxide poisoning.”

Lee said the Adams County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case and autopsies will be conducted.

“My heart and prayers go out to these families,” Lee said.
