Good news to close out 2018

We’ve rung out the old and brought in the new.
Welcome to 2019.
With all the promises of a fresh 2019 still on the horizon, however, let’s take a look back at the good news from the last week of 2018 in the Miss-Lou.
* Santa paid a visit to all the good boys and girls and by most accounts Santa was generous with his presents.
* Jessie Winston celebrated his 108th birthday on Christmas Day in Natchez. Winston has lived a full life in Natchez and Adams County, and we wish him many more happy birthdays and Merry Christmases to come.
* Debra Blackwell was sworn in as the new District 6-2 Circuit Court Judge, a seat vacated by the former Judge Forrest “Al” Johnson, who retired after 24 years.
We are confident Blackwell will do a great job on the bench.
We also thank Johnson for his 24 years of service on the job and wish him well in his retirement.
* Congratulations to Dustin Henderson and Miranda Allen who became engaged in a special way last week.
Henderson chose to pop the question in the same check out aisle in which he met Allen four years ago when he was working as a bag boy at Natchez Market 2.
We wish the young couple well in their engagement and impending marriage.
Happy New Year!
