Police: Truck involved in shooting found burned

NATCHEZ — Police say a red pickup truck used in a Saturday shooting has been found and appears to have been set on fire to destroy evidence.

The was used in a Saturday afternoon shooting that injured a man on Watts Avenue.

“We located the vehicle yesterday (Monday), out in the county,” said Walter Armstrong, Natchez police chief. “It had been burned out.”

Witnesses told police three men in a red pickup truck with black rims had driven by at approximately 2 p.m. Saturday on Watts Avenue and fired the shots that hit the victim in the leg.

The victim was transported to Merit Health Natchez with non-life-threatening injuries where he was treated and released, officials said.

“We don’t have any suspects,” Armstrong said. “We know who the vehicle belongs to but that vehicle had been reported stolen. We are still running down leads on the occupants of that vehicle.”
